Do what you do best, and delegate the rest
When I used to think about authors, I thought about solemn, grey people. I didn’t want to be someone like that. I just wanted to write murder mysteries. When I was running, I started seeing scenes in my head. I could replay them as often as I wanted until I felt it right. Also, it took my mind off the run.
Of course, I was the very brave protagonist. I felt I couldn’t be the only one who would enjoy a book like that. And really, how hard could it be? I had no idea.
I started taking classes in 2018 and published my first non-fiction book in October 2024. I have written two cozy mysteries that started with that scene in my head, and one that has a senior as the protagonist. That’s me, of course.
I plan to publish the cozy with the senior protagonist this year, provided I can get the editing done.
I’ve just hired someone to edit for me, as I know I’m not good at it. I can’t wait to get started. Kate Rader is the gal who is going to do the editing for me. Once I have started with her, I’ll give you her work information if you’re interested.
We are almost at the end of April, and that always used to mean we were heading into spring and summer. The West Coast has finally started into double digits. Edmonton and Calgary still have snowstorms, and with the wind chill factor, they are in the negative double digits.
Now that I submitted my taxes for last year, I feel it’s time to get on with writing and publishing my first cozy. I hope people are as excited as I am to have a cozy mystery with a senior as the protagonist. I think people will like her.
This is the book I’m getting edited. It has some romance (so scary to write) and some humour. It’s also taking place a couple of kilometres from where I live. For now, I call it Crescent Beach as a placeholder. I really hope you’ll like it.
Take care and ciao for now.
