My books fall into two wonderfully suspicious categories: cozy mysteries filled with friendship, danger, humour, and bodies turning up where they really shouldn’t and nonfiction books for writers who want to get their poisons right.
Cozy Mysteries
The Senior Sleuths Series, starting with Grounds for Murder: In Crescent Beach, is a dark cosy mystery set in a small beach community where friendship, loyalty, and a good morning coffee are part of everyday life. Abbey and her longtime friends from nursing school have known each other for decades. They have shared careers, marriages, losses, secrets, and countless walks by the water. But when Abbey discovers a body on the beach path, their peaceful routine is shattered.
At first, Abbey is more than willing to let the police handle the investigation. But when one of her closest friends becomes a person of interest, standing aside is no longer an option. With new evidence appearing, organized crime lurking in the background, and a homicide detective who may be a little too interesting for Abbey’s peace of mind, the Senior Sleuths find themselves drawn into a mystery where old friendships may be tested, and trust may be the most dangerous clue of all.

- At the 2025 Calgary crime writers conference, When Words Collide, I entered the Live Action Slush contest, where writers submit the first page of their novel anonymously. Three editors and agents decide whether they would keep reading, or even consider buying the book, based on that first page alone. I won. With this book! All three gave me a thumbs up.
Non-fiction
25 Ways to Commit Murder Accurately Volume 1: Plants is my first nonfiction book for mystery and crime writers who want their fictional poisonings to be believable.
Drawing on my years as a Poison Information Specialist, I explore poisonous plants, how they really work, and how they might be used in a storyline, whether to kill a character, confuse a witness, or cast suspicion in exactly the wrong direction.
It is the first in a planned series on poisons for writers, with future books exploring animal toxins, pharmaceuticals, and street drugs.
