Murder. Mystery. Poison. Stories you’ll never forget.
From the science of poison to the art of storytelling, my work explores the fascinating intersection of fact and fiction. As a retired Poison Information Specialist, author, and speaker, I draw on decades of experience to create compelling books, engaging presentations, and mysteries that keep readers guessing.
Whether you’re a reader, a writer, or an event organizer, I invite you to explore my books, discover my presentations, and step into a world where the smallest detail can make all the difference.
Grounds for Murder: In Crescent Beach
My debut mystery, Grounds for Murder: In Crescent Beach, is a dark cosy that explores the deadly secrets that can lie beneath the surface of even the closest friendships.
Every week, a close-knit group of friends meets for coffee at their favourite café in Crescent Beach. But when one of their former spouses is found murdered, long-buried secrets rise to the surface, loyalties are tested, and no one is above suspicion.
As the investigation closes in, old friendships are tested, hidden motives come to light, and the closer they come to the truth, the more dangerous the search becomes. Grounds for Murder is an addictive page-turner where seaside charm meets dark secrets, and no one can be trusted.
- ‘When reading the first page my mind raced to understand what was going on. I was hooked. I needed to read more. This is an intriguing murder mystery cleverly interwoven with a budding romance. I look forward to more titles by this author.’

Murder may tear them apart.
25 Ways to Commit Murder Accurately, Volume 1: Plants
For crime writers, mystery lovers, and anyone curious about the fascinating world of basic plant toxicology
My main reason for writing 25 Ways was simple: I kept encountering murder mysteries where poisons behaved in ways they simply do not behave in real life. Symptoms appeared too suddenly, toxins worked too dramatically, and old myths were often treated as fact.
As a former Poison Information Specialist, I wanted to give writers accurate, readable information that could help them create more believable plots, more convincing suspects, and far fewer impossible poisonings.
This book is the first in a planned series. Future volumes will explore animal toxins, pharmaceuticals, and street drugs as they relate to crime writing and fictional mysteries.
Each volume looks at poisons that could kill a character, as well as poisons that might be used to discredit, confuse, or incapacitate a witness — because, in a good mystery, the poison should be just as believable as the murderer.
USA Today bestselling author Shelley Adina wrote,
“I bought Lee-Anne’s book as a writer’s resource, and was delighted to find the perfect plant poison to use in The Engineer’s Nemesis. I appreciate the way she includes symptoms and does it from the standpoint of what a writer needs to know.” — Shelley Adina, PhD
